“Stay at Home Mothers are Working Mothers” by Prasad @desitraveler
This must be my favorite picture in the #MothersDay series for I have kept it for the last. At less than 8 feet their little room had no place for visitors, so we all sat on the stairs outside to talk to them. She was busy making yarn (notice the stick on the ground and the yarn in the background), for the colorful scarves /shawls you see in the background. Each of these vibrant pieces of cloth is a labor of love and can take up to a week to make and months to sell for less than 500 Rs. But these Naga women don’t have a moment to spare, from collecting water, firewood, tending plants, managing kitchen, sending kids to school when they finally get time to sit back and relax it is time to do some weaving. Every single home that we were invited in Khonoma we found women working on looms making shawls etc. I got lucky with this picture as the baby got up listening to all the noise and looked towards me as his mother got a moment of rest from working on the shawl. I think the biggest sham ever created was this concept of #SAHM or stay at home mother. Trust me there is no stay at home mothers only: " Working every single moment mothers" Wishing you all a very #HappyMothersDay 🙂 – – – PS: How about joining hands for this series about mothers day?
